Universal Fundraising Organization Inc. is committed to making our website usable by as many people as possible, including people with disabilities. Everyone should be able to learn about our work, read our news, and make a donation without barriers.
1. Our goal
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content easier to use for people with a wide range of disabilities, including vision, hearing, mobility, and cognitive differences. Version 2.2 is the current standard, and it adds requirements covering keyboard focus, the size of buttons and links, and making forms simpler to complete.
2. The accessibility toolbar
Every page has an accessibility button in the lower-left corner, marked with a person inside a circle. Open it to adjust the site to suit you:
- Text size — make all text larger in steps.
- High contrast — strengthen text and outline contrast.
- Highlight links — underline and outline every link.
- Readable font — switch to a plainer, wider-spaced typeface.
- Reduce motion — stop animations and smooth scrolling.
- Large cursor — show a bigger mouse pointer.
- Reset — return everything to normal.
Your choices are remembered in your own browser on your device. They are not sent to us or to anyone else.
3. What we have built in
- Text and background colors chosen to meet contrast requirements.
- Full keyboard operation, with a visible outline showing where you are, and a "Skip to content" link.
- Meaningful headings, landmarks, labels and button names for screen readers.
- Descriptive alternative text on images that carry meaning; decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
- Videos that load only when you choose to play them, so nothing starts moving or making sound unexpectedly.
- Respect for your device's "reduce motion" setting.
- Layouts that work on phones, tablets and computers, and when you zoom in.
4. How we meet WCAG 2.2
Version 2.2 added requirements beyond WCAG 2.1. Here is how this website meets each of them:
- Focus is never hidden (2.4.11) — when you move through a page with the Tab key, the sticky header never covers the item you have landed on.
- Nothing requires dragging (2.5.7) — every control works with a single click, tap or key press. There is no slider to drag and nothing to drag and drop.
- Controls are big enough (2.5.8) — buttons, links and form fields are at least 24 by 24 pixels, and at least 44 by 44 pixels on touch screens.
- Help is always in the same place (3.2.6) — our contact email appears in the footer of every page, in the same position.
- No repeated typing (3.3.7) — you are never asked to enter the same information twice to finish a donation.
- No memory test to sign in (3.3.8) — this site has no accounts and no passwords. Card details are entered once, in Authorize.Net's secure form.
5. Known limitations
Some parts of the site come from other companies, and we don't control how accessible they are:
- The secure payment form is provided by Authorize.Net.
- Videos are played by YouTube and Vimeo.
- News headlines link to articles on other news websites.
If any of these gets in your way, contact us and we will help you complete what you were doing, including taking a donation by another method.
6. Tell us about a problem
If you meet a barrier on this website, please tell us. Email or write to Universal Fundraising Organization Inc., 2750 Holcomb Bridge Rd Ste 221, Alpharetta, GA 30022 USA. Please tell us the page address and what happened. We aim to reply within five business days.
7. Disclaimer
We work continuously to improve accessibility and test the site regularly. Even so, some content may not yet fully meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA, and third-party content may change without notice. This statement describes our ongoing commitment and current status rather than a guarantee that every page is free of accessibility issues at all times. We welcome your feedback and fix reported problems as quickly as we can.
